First time in the history of Pakistan, Chief Minster Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over a meeting of the Punjab cabinet at the Divisional Headquarters, Bahawalpur. A 22-point agenda was discussed in the three-hour meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Sardar Usman Buzdar said another promise has been fulfilled by holding the meeting of Punjab cabinet in Bahawalpur. "We will end the deprivation among the people of South Punjab. The whole of Punjab is my home and I will go to every corner of my house." He said the less-developed areas will be brought at par with developed areas. The cabinet meetings will be held in other divisions as well. Provincial ministers, advisers, special assistants, chief secretary, secretaries of concerning departments and senior officials were also present on the occasion.

The provincial cabinet approved the policy of impartial allotment of vehicles to provincial ministers and officers and 2017 annual report of Punjab Power Development Board that would be presented in the provincial assembly.

The meeting also gave consent to the draft of Punjab Water Policy. The draft of the Water Act will be prepared in the light of this policy and the Water Council will be constituted. The proposal for the construction of Dadhocha Dam under the private-public partnership was also approved. The agenda of the control of lower portion of Chashma Right Bank Canal and the provision of complete share of water to Punjab from this canal was also approved. The provincial cabinet also approved a report of Auditor General of Pakistan on Disaster Management Organization, Punjab's accounts for the year 2017-18 and the audit report of Auditor General Pakistan for district health and education authorities of Punjab for the year 2017-2018.

The formulation of labour policy of Punjab was also approved. Meanwhile, the meeting also gave its consent to the appointment of vice chancellor of Cholistan University of the Veterinary and Animal Sciences and the formation of a search committee. The final recommendations regarding South Punjab Forest Company will be drafted by the advisory council which will present its report to the chief minister.

The meeting also gave consent for increase in the allowance of doctors on the basis of performance. The allowance will be increased in the upcoming financial year. Moreover, an approval was accorded with the implementation of the verdict on equal fee of tests in hospitals besides process for purchase of ventilators, ICU beds and ICU monitors. The decision has been taken to regularize the assistant professors who have been recruited on the three-year contract.

The provincial cabinet also approved to fill 325 vacancies of Social Welfare Department Punjab. The meeting gave its consent to the recruitment of special persons on the basis of three percent quota.

Meanwhile, the meeting also approved a lapse fund of 2017-18 financial year of Rawalpindi Waste Management Company, provision of funds for Balochistan Education Program, subsidy for export of sugar, amendment in the Punjab Rules of Business 2011 and the measures for establishment of Chakar Khan Rind University, Dera Ghazi Khan. The cabinet meeting also held Fateha for the mothers of provincial ministers Ajman Cheema and Jehanzeb Khan, and MPA Dr Afzal.
