Under the instructions from the Director, Intelligence and Investigation-FBR, Peshawar, the campaign against smuggling of narcotics has been geared up in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A piece of information was received to the effect that a sizeable quantity of narcotics would be smuggled from tribal area towards Punjab in a Bedford truck. In pursuance of the said information, the staff of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation (Customs)-FBR, Peshawar, held a check point at GT Road near Khairabad, district Nowshera.

The suspected Bedford truck bearing registration No. C-2415-Dir, coming from Peshawar was stopped. After cursory search the presence of drugs was detected in the back of the driver seat of the truck. The driver namely Zahoor Jan s/o Habib r/o Atmanzai, Muhallah Atmanzai, tehsil and district Charsadda, was taken into custody. The truck, alongwith the accused, was brought to the Directorate where detailed search led to recovery of 11kg opium (gross). Value of the recovered drugs has been estimated as Rs 13,20,000 and that of the truck as Rs 30,00,000. The FIR No. 69/2018 dated 29.12.2018 was lodged against the accused in the I&P branch of MCC, Peshawar. Further investigation is in progress.
