Directorate General, Intelligence & Investigation, Inland Revenue, Islamabad, has conducted a major operation against a property dealer and recovered record to confirm charges of carrying out Benami transactions to the tune of millions of rupees through fake accounts. Details issued by the Directorate General, Intelligence & Investigation, Inland Revenue, Islamabad, here on Thursday revealed that the intelligence arm of the agency, on receiving credible information about fake accounts, conducted a raid on Thursday.

The raiding team of the agency took into custody laptops, cheque books and documents relating to buying and selling of immovable properties. The Directorate General, Intelligence & Investigation, IR Islamabad, called the person whose name has been used for running of bank accounts for hearing.

During the course of hearing, the relevant person stated that the said property dealer has made fake accounts on his name. He further said that his signatures for opening of accounts were also fake and negated transactions of millions of rupees, saying the said property dealer is running these accounts under his name.

After verifications from the relevant bank, it has been revealed that mandate of running fake accounts has been given to an employee of the said property dealer. On this, the Directorate General, Intelligence & Investigation, IR Islamabad, conducted the raid at the said property dealer's office and took into custody all the available record.

According to initial investigation, further transactions of millions of rupees came to light which had not been mentioned in annual income tax returns of said property dealer. Further investigation is underway by the agency.
