Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Appraisement, Port Qasim on Monday confiscated a myriad quantity of betel nuts imported under the guise of plastic cable cover scrap. According to details, the plastic recycling company located in Karachi had imported a consignment from Dubai in a container having registration no MRKU-3198439.

The importer has filed the Goods Declaration (GD) and declared the same as plastic cable cover scrap. However, the GD of the consignment went under Red category for examination. Later, the examination report confirmed that the consignment contained 26,410 kilograms of plastic cable cover scrape and around 27,470 kilograms of betel nuts. The report stated: "This is a case of mis-declaration of description and IPO condition as contraband goods were found from the container examined on the basis of GD retrieved through WeBOC system.
