Prime Minister Imran Khan Saturday announced his 20-member Cabinet comprising 15 federal ministers and five advisors who will take oath tomorrow (Monday).

The Central Media Cell of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf said Asad Umar has already been announced Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs. The other members of the new cabinet are: Senator Dr Muhammad Farogh Naseem, Minister for Law and Justice; Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Cheema, Minister for States and Frontier Regions; Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony; Dr Shireen M Mazari, Minister for Human Rights; Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Minister for Petroleum Division; Zubaida Jalal, Minister for Defense Production; Fawad Chaudhry, Minister for Information and Broadcasting; Aamir Mehmood Kiyani, Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination; Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Pervez Khattak, Minister for Defense; Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Minister for Railways; Fehmida Mirza, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination; Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication; and Shafqat Mahmood, Minister for Federal Education & Professional Training and National History and Literary Heritage Division.

The Prime Minister also announced the names of five advisors. They are: Muhammad Shehzad Arbab, Adviser Establishment; Abdul Razzak Dawood, Adviser Commerce, Textile, Industry & Production and Investment; Ishrat Hussain, Adviser Institutional Reforms and Austerity; Amin Aslam, Adviser Climate Change; and Zaheer-ud-Din Babar Awan Adviser Parliamentary Affairs.

Earlier, Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi on Saturday took oath as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan.

President Mamnoon Hussain administered oath of the office to the newly elected Prime Minister at a simple but impressive ceremony here at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The oath-taking ceremony commenced with the playing of the national anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran. The ceremony, scheduled to begin at 9:30am, started a little after 10:00am.

High-profile guests, including caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, first lady Bushra Bibi, Chief Minister KPK Mahmood Khan, caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Hassan Askari, members of the outgoing caretaker federal cabinet, foreign diplomats, prominent political personalities and leaders of PTI, former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, senior civil and military officials, Actor Javed Sheikh, actress Sana Javed, singer and PTI leader Abrar-ul-Haq, players of 1992 cricket team and prominent personalities representing different walks of life, were present at the ceremony.

Leaders of opposition parties including Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Shairf did not attend the oath-taking ceremony despite invitation. Imran Khan's sisters and his sons Qasim and Suleman were not invited in the oath-taking ceremony.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was clad in black Sherwani. He stumbled while pronouncing certain Urdu words as he took oath.

Prime Minister Imran Khan was presented a guard of honor on his arrival at the Prime Minister House by a contingent drawn from three armed forces after taking the oath of his office. National anthem was played on the occasion. He inspected the guard of honor and took the salute.

Imran Khan on Friday was elected as Leader of House by securing 176 votes in the National Assembly while his opponent, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif, received 96 votes. The Prime Minister of Pakistan, more than two decades ago entered politics.

After the oath-taking ceremony, former Indian cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu said while taking to media persons that it is a "new dawn" and there are few like Imran Khan who make history.

Actor Javed Sheikh said, "I am extremely happy that today a Naya Pakistan is being made."

Imran Khan was born in 1952. He was only son of his father Ikramullah Khan Niazi, a civil engineer by profession, and Shaukat Khanum. He has four sisters.

He received his early education at Aitchison College Lahore after which he was enrolled into the Royal Grammar School Worcester, England. Imran Khan graduated from Oxford University in 1975 with a degree in philosophy, politics and economics.

Imran, who started playing cricket when he was a teenager, made his cricketing debut for Pakistan at the age of 18 during the 1971 series against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

After graduating from Oxford, Imran made his home debut for Pakistan in 1976 and played until 1992, bringing home many laurels as a sportsman. He also remained the team captain intermittently from 1982 to 1992. His greatest achievement in cricket was leading his team to victory in the 1992 World Cup in Australia.

In 1996, Imran decided to put his national fame to political use and founded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), promising to fight graft and deliver justice to the people of the country.
