Former premier Nawaz Sharif on Sunday was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) from Adiala prison on the orders of the caretaker government. The interim government has decided to shift the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) amid tight security for treatment after chest pain. The decision to shift the former prime minister was taken on the advice of his (Nawaz) personal physician Dr Muhammad Adnan. All the security arrangements were made before shifting ex-PM to PIMS from deployment of large number of security personnel outside the hospital to a convoy of two ambulances, with fool proof security van.

According to media reports, some complications were detected in electrocardiography (ECG) and medical tests of former prime minister. Nawaz has been in Adiala Jail since June 12 along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz following conviction in Avenfield reference. They were arrested at Lahore Airport upon arrival from London by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team and were sent to Adiala jail. Former prime minister's appeal has also been fixed for hearing on July 31, 2018.

Monitoring Desk adds: Aaj News reported that elderly mother of Nawaz Sharif also suffered chest pain and taken to Sharif Medical City for medical check-up. On the other hand, a medical team led by Dr Naeem conducted medical examination of Nawaz who was shifted to a private room in cardiovascular department of PIMS. Samples of urine and blood were taken Sunday while some tests of heart and kidney will be conducted today (Monday) and after that a 5-member medical board comprising of senior doctors will conduct his medical examination.
