Earlier, provincial chief ministers met with the caretaker Prime Minister Justice (R) Nasir-ul-Mulk and reviewed matter with regard to preparation of upcoming general elections in the country. The consultation was also taken place on transfer and posting of provincial chief secretaries and inspectors general of police (IGPs).
Chief Minister Punjab Hasan Askari Rizvi, Chief Minister Sindh Fazal-ur-Rehman, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa former Justice Dost Mohammad Khan and Chief Minister Balochistan Alauddin Mari met with the Prime Minisster ahead of cabinet meeting. Later on, a meeting of the caretaker federal cabinet was chaired by the Prime Minister on the matter and it approved posting of chief secretaries and IGPs in order to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in the country.
An official said that a list of senior officials was sent to the Prime Minister's Office for implementation. The federal cabinet, in consultation with the ECP and the respective provincial governments appointed Akbar Hussain Durrani as Chief Secretary Punjab, Azam Suleman Khan, Chief Secretary Sindh, Naveed Kamran, Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Akhtar Nazeer as Chief Secretary Balochistan.
The cabinet also approved posting of Dr Kaleem Imam as IGP Punjab, Amjad Javed Saleemi, IGP Sindh, Mohammad Tahir, IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Mohsin Hasan Butt as IGP Balochistan.
