He said that books written by President General Pervez Musharraf (retd) and former Chief of General Staff (CGS) Shahid Aziz were disasters insofar as country's interests are concerned.
About the nomination of former Justice Nasirul Mulk as the caretaker premier, Sharif said that he was a great judge and his nomination as a caretaker prime minister is laudable. He praised Justice Mulk for his contribution to the judiciary. "No one has pointed a finger at him and he is acceptable to all," he said.
To a question regarding the appointment of Nasir Khan Khosa, the younger brother of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, as interim chief minister Punjab, Sharif said that Khosa is a brilliant man and he also remained his personal secretary. He said that he was happy over Khosa's appointment.
Responding to a question about the person who tried to get close to Nawaz Sharif during Yaum-e-Takbeer function, he said that security has been taken away from politicians.
Earlier, Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain Muhammad Safdar (retd) appeared before the Accountability Court in connection with the Avenfield reference filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
During the hearing, Safdar while testifying before the court said that he signed the trust deeds of two offshore companies Nielson and Nescoll that own the Avenfield properties as a witness and Maryam Nawaz had been made trustee.
He said that Joint Investigation Team (JIT) that probed the Panama Papers case did not seal trust deeds in front of Maryam. He also signed Comber declaration as a witness. The JIT report is inadmissible in this case, he said.
Sharif and Maryam remained present for some time in the court during the hearing and they were later allowed by the court to leave. When Sharif and Maryam left, all PML-N leaders accompanying them also left the courtroom.
Safdar said the question related to Stephen Moverley does not relate to him but the opinion of Moverley is not admissible evidence under the law. He said that the questions related to speech of Nawaz Sharif in the National Assembly, TV interviews of Hassan, Hussain and Maryam Nawaz, a letter from the Qatari Prince Sheikh Hamad bin Jassam, the affidavit of Tariq Shafi, a letter from Mossack Fonseca are not related to him.
To a question about the Robert William Radley report, he said that Radley himself admitted that forensic examination could be done of photocopies.
Safdar responded 80 out of 128 questions till the rising of the court. The court adjourned hearing till Wednesday (Today).
When media persons asked Safdar why all PML-N leaders who were present in the court left him alone, he said he himself did not want to see any PML-N leader around while recording his statement. He further said, "Nowadays Mian Sahib needs Maryam more than me."
