that Pakistan is committed for peace and stability in the region, particularly in Afghanistan through a national approach. The CoAS said that Pakistan also expects other players in the region to play equally positive role. Ambassador Wells said that the US is committed to lasting peace and supports all efforts towards that end. Both agreed that bilateral convergences should be leveraged to gain positive momentum rather than remaining hostage to perceptions.
Earlier, Ambassador Alice G Wells also met with Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Miftah Ismail and discussion focused on Pak-US ties, economic cooperation and overall security situation in the region. Miftah Ismail after receiving her stated that such bilateral visits enhance understanding of each other's point of view on important issues. He also shared with Wells the current state of economy and said that growth momentum generated during the last four years is likely to continue during the current year and beyond.
Ambassador Wells apprised the minister of her interaction with the US businesses having their operations in Pakistan and said that they see a lot of potential in Pakistan's economy. US Ambassador to Pakistan, David Hale and senior officials of the Ministry of Finance were present on the occasion. Ambassador Wells during her second visit to Pakistan since January 2018 met with civil and military leadership of Pakistan and discussed with them bilateral and regional issues, particularly Afghanistan.
