District Nazim, Mohammad Asim Khan, said that a CPEC Commercial Tower will be constructed at Peshawar general bus stand. He added a sum of Rs 10 billion has been estimated for this mega development project. He was addressing at Meet the Press Programme organised by Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday.

District Nazim said that a state of the art CPEC Commercial Tower will be built up at the general bus stand comprising 157 kanal land, while the new bus stand would be constructed on 400 kanal land at Sardar Garhi. He said the mega development project would be completed either by Chinese company or National Logistic Cell. In this effect, he added an agreement would be signed shortly.

Mohammad Asim said that the district government had initiated development projects worth of billion of rupees. He said a sum of Rs 15million would be spent for installation of cameras in examination halls of Peshawar. In this regard, he said an agreement between district government, education department and PTCL will be signed shortly. The District Nazim said the solarization of more than 11 basic health units had been completed in Peshawar during last year, while from 12 to 13 BHUs would be solarized in the current year. He informed a state of the art laboratory was established to check milk adulteration in Peshawar.

He said that a food street will be constructed at the cost of Rs 600million in historic Namak Mandi in Peshawar. Whereas, he said project of revival of heritage building had so far completed at the same vicinity. He added a parking plaza will be built up at estimated cost of Rs 320million in Namak Mandi, which would be completed in six months, The District Nazim said the district government had taken initiatives for promotion of healthy sports activities. He informed that youth sports gala 'Azm-e-Nojawan' will be organised at Qayyum Sports Complex from March 15. He said more than 16 games will be played during the day-long sports event in Peshawar. He said winners of the sports event will be awarded cash prizes.

Asim while replying to a question said that the government is fully prepared to deal with dengue situation in coming season in the province. In this regard, he informed the district government had arranged proper training session for members of district councils. He added the special campaign has been designed to create awareness among masses as well as preventive measures about dengue disease shortly, while masses should also be sensitized about the fatal dengue disease by visiting door to door, especially through media campaign.

He further maintained that the district government had provided Rs 15million funds to combat with dengue during last season. He assured the all resources would be mobilized not to spread of the dengue in the province. To another query, the District Nazim said that the heritage trail project will be completed by April this year. About the rapidly demolishing of buildings in historic walled city, he replied that the government had allocated Rs 100million for revival of Peshawar city wall. He added another amount of Rs 0.4million has further allocated for other schemes in the city. Responding about the Hayatabad Food Street, he said the government has planned to convert the Hayatabad Food Street into Sasta bazaar.
