Pakistani youth must be equipped with most modern and latest vocational skills to make its products compatible with the international standard, said Dr Jens Jokisch, Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy.

Talking to a delegation of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), Dr Jens said that German organization GIZ was already working in Pakistan for the last many years to provide fundamental skills to its work force. About Pak-German relations, he said that two countries are trusted trading partners. He said that the bilateral trade between the two countries stood at 2.6 billion Euros during the last year. He said many German companies are already successfully contributing their role in the uplift of Pakistan economy while many more are planning to start their businesses in this country in near future.

President FCCI Shabbir Hussain Chawla said that involvement of youth in productive activities is a big challenge for Pakistan. He said that many government institutions are imparting skills with the help of GIZ and other NGOs supported by donor organizations. "However, we must adopt new and high tech technologies to improve the quality of our exportable surplus in addition to entering into the emerging field of technical textile," he said and added that GIZ should also club vocational with entrepreneur skills so that the youth could start their own businesses instead of running after jobs.

Former President FCCI Engineer Suhail Bin Rasheed told that FCCI is planning to send a trade delegation to Germany for which it needs guidance and support from the German embassy. Suhail who is also chairman of District Board of Management of TEVTA told that foreign remittances have supported national economy and we must equip our surplus youth with global skills in order to export them to potential markets. Quratul Ain also underlined the issue of women empowerment and said that Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been established which is trying to facilitate the female entrepreneurs. Later, Engineer Suhail Bin Rasheed presented FCCI shield to Jens Jokisch while SVP Sheikh Farooq Yusuf presented a gift of local made textile products to Jens Jokisch.
