The member states have resolved to share with the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) timely information on progress made in the implementation of the recommendations contained in the UNGASS outcome document. The Special Session was held shortly after the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which serves as a framework for all development efforts in the coming years. The UNGASS in its outcome document welcomed the 2030 Agenda and recognized that efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and to effectively address the world drug problem were complementary and mutually reinforcing.
