Talking to Business Recorder, he appealed to the government to abolish duties yarn imports to encourage value addition, reduce the cost of doing business and bridging the gap between production and consumption. Under the prevailing circumstance we demand that government should allow the industry to import cotton from other countries to fulfilling the demands of foreign buyers he said.
The PRGMEA Chief Coordinator further stated that Prime Minister, Federal Commerce and Textile Minister should interact with the stakeholders for ascertaining the problems and difficulties confronted by the industry. The garment sector is highest foreign exchange earner and strengthening the national exchequer as well as providing employment opportunities thousand workers across the country he said. Ijaz was of the opinion that garment sector had great potential and ability to enhance 50 percent export and this sector widen the scope of generating employment in the country.
The PRGMEA Chief Coordinator was of the opinion that unfriendly polices were hindering exports of the country adversely and under the prevailing situation government should take drastic steps for the removal of unfriendly polices for bringing stability in exports.
He suggested that there is a great need of setting up "Sector Specific Export Promotion Councils" for all export sectors to enhance the exports of the country adding that sector specific export councils should be formulated under umbrella of Export Monitoring Committee under the direct supervision of Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The PRGMEA Chief Coordinator said that there is a great need of setting up "Garment Export Promotion" for monitor production and export performance and formulate appropriate policy for Textile apparel sector.
