Statements of six police personnel who participated in 'encounter' of Mudassar and was killed for alleged rape and murder of Eman Fatima in February 2017, bear contradictions following which they were arrested, it was reported on Sunday. The six personnel who were summoned by Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in Zainab murder case recorded statements of the cops and according to a development today, they were arrested as their statements bear contradictions, a private television channel reported.

A Kasur local named Mudassar was killed in an encounter in February last year as police suspected him of having raped and murdered a minor girl named Eman Fatima. However, the latest of such tragic incidents against children in the city revealed that the accused, named Imran Ali murdered Fatima among eight minors. Sub-inspector Muhammad Ali, ASIs Tanveer and Sharif, constables Muhammad Amir, Abid Hussain and Khalid were arrested today for Mudassar's alleged encounter.

Sources privy to the police have reported that the contradictions have added to JIT's suspicion over Mudassar's 'encounter'. Reportedly, the arrested personnel could not put forth any evidence to prove allegations leveled against slain Mudassar. Separately, bereaved family of Mudassar has approached a court seeking justice and sessions judge has scheduled the hearing on January 30.

Imran Ali, who was held earlier this week, some 14 days after seven-year-old Zainab's rape and murder was covered by national media in Pakistan, was revealed to have killed seven other minors in the past. Polygraph and DNA tests identified Imran Ali as the killer of seven other minors including Eman Fatima.

The suspect was presented before an Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) this week in tight security and was remanded in police custody for 14 days on physical remand.
