Prices of daily use items, including vegetable, pulses, chicken, eggs, sugar have witnessed a marginally decrease in retail market, according to survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday. Tomato is being sold at Rs 30 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 60 per kilogram during the preceding week, while onion was available at Rs 40 per kg against the rate of Rs 70 per kilogram in previous week as compared to last week, the survey noticed.

It was witnessed that price of ginger has also decreased at Rs 120 per kg from Rs 160 per kg. Garlic is being available at Rs 160 per kg in retail market. Green chili was available at Rs 120 and Rs 140 per kg. The survey further noticed that red-colour potato is being sold at Rs 40 per kg, which was selling at Rs 60 per kg in previous week. Peas are available at Rs 40 per kg against the rate of Rs 70 per kg in last week. Capsicum was available at Rs 120 per kg, ladyfinger at Rs 80 per kg, calabash at Rs 70 per kg, kado at Rs 100 per kg.

A downward trend in prices of chicken was also witnessed during the last week in retail market, as live chicken is being sold at Rs 167 per kg against Rs 175 per kg in previous week. Farm eggs are being sold at Rs 100 per dozen, which was selling at Rs 120 in previous week. The survey noticed a mix trend in prices of pulses in retail market, as rates of some items have increased slightly, while other remained unchanged. Price of one-kilogram good quality has increased to Rs 140 per kg, which was selling at Rs 125 per kg in retail market. Toota rice is being available at Rs 60 per kg, which was selling at Rs 70 per kg in previous week.

It further said the dhoti dal is being available at Rs 100 per kg, which was selling at Rs 120 per kg in previous week. Price of one-kilogram dal mash has decreased at Rs 120 per kg from Rs 140 per kg in retail market. Similarly, the survey noticed that white lobiya priced at Rs 120 per kg in retail market. Dal green is being available at Rs 120 per kg, moonge at Rs 120 per kg, dal masoor at Rs 100 per kg.

Likewise, price of gram flour (baisen) has decreased in retail market as being sold at Rs 120 per kg, which was selling at Rs 130 per kg during the previous week. Red bean is being available in different rates in retail market, as Rs 170, Rs 140 and Rs 120 per kg. The survey witnessed that prices of all brand and quality of cooking oil/ghee were remained unchanged as available within range of Rs 120, Rs 160 and Rs 170 and Rs 180 in retail market.

During the visit in local market, it was noticed that butchers are defying the official rates, and selling cow meat at exorbitant rate in retail market, according to which cow beef is being available at R 300, Rs 320 and Rs 340 per kg. Mutton is being sold at Rs 700 and Rs 750 per kg in retail market. Fruits prices have registered 'sky-high' in retail market. According to survey, apple is being sold at Rs 130 and Rs 150 per kg, big-size Orange at R150 per dozen, while small-size orange at Rs 100 and Rs 80 per dozen, fruiter at Rs 80 per dozen, guava at Rs 80 per kg, banana at Rs 50 and Rs 80 per dozen.

The survey noticed that one litre fresh milk is being sold at Rs 100 and Rs 120 against the official fixed rate of Rs 80 per litre. Yogurt is being available at Rs 100 and Rs 110 per kg. Good quality black tea is being available at Rs 350 per kg and Rs 400 per kg, green tea at Rs 250 per kg.
