The Tobacco Squad of Regional Tax Office-II, Lahore, has conducted two successful raids and seized 2.5 million sticks of illicit cigarettes from district Sheikhupura. Sources said the Tobacco Squad, RTO-II, Lahore, had gathered information about storage of large quantity of counterfeit cigarettes in two godowns located in Sheikhupura.

Accordingly, a team including Salman Naveed Butt (Assistant Commissioner), Saman Zahra (Assistant Commissioner) and Aqeel Ahmed (Inland Revenue Audit Officer) and other support staff raided the warehouses. The operation was lead by Azhar Jehangir (Additional Commissioner) under the supervision of Dr Yasmin Fatima (Commissioner/Incharge Tobacco Squad).

The warehouses were unlocked and approximately 251 cartons (2.5 million sticks approximately) of various brands including Goldstreet, Royal, Highway, Chance, Laser etc were taken into custody.
