Talking to media persons the PPP women wing leader said that Qasoor incident had forced the people of all segments to come to the streets against the government which had failed to take immediate steps for arrest of the accused person. She said that after the incident all the parents were feeling their children vulnerable and unwilling to send them outside the main gates even in emergency situation.
She criticized Punjab government for its failure to take appropriate steps for control on the shocking incidents which were taking place very frequently. She said the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited residence of the victim only after the protest demonstrations across the country.
Similarly, another demonstration was held by members of different civil society organizations. The protestors were led by former MNA Bushra Gohar, who were holding banners, placards inscribed with demands for arrest of the killer. Speaking on the occasion the former lawmaker condemned the gory incident and described it a black stigma on face of our country. She said the entire nation was condemning the ugly incident but the government was unable to round-up the accused involved in it.
She said arrest of the accused person was a challenge for the rulers as protection to the citizens was prime responsibility of the state. She said women and children were extremely vulnerable in our society and it was duty of all the people to seek a solution to the problem.
Meanwhile, Awami National Party President Asfandyar Wali Khan has in a statement on Thursday condemned the gruesome incident and demanded probe into the it to award exemplary punishment to the real culprit. The ANP leader said that the incident had extremely shocked the people across the country, saying that it was national tragedy which had saddened all and sundry and the accused person was unable to be forgiven.
Mr Khan said that despite close circuit television cameras' clippings the police were unable to trace the accused person. Besides, he also condemned Punjab police for opening indiscriminate fire on protestors wherein two people were killed and many others wounded. He said it was duty of Punjab government to conduct inquiry into all the incidents and award punishment to those involved in the bloodshed.
