Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly Secretariat regarding horrific incident of rape and cold-blooded murder of a minor girl Zainab in district Kasur.

The motion was submitted under rule 110 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007. According to the adjournment motion, "We the undersigned request that the House should immediately discuss the shocking and horrific incident of rape and cold-blooded murder of a minor girl Zainab in Kasur. The tragic incident has once again raised serious reservations about the safety of children in our society.

It is unfortunate that a number of similar incidents have been taken place in the area over a year or so but still the law enforcement agencies have failed to trace the culprits and brought them to justice. "This is a serious issue and requires immediate discussion on the floor of the house so that a concrete strategy may be devised to avoid such brutal incidents in future."

PTI MNA Murad Saeed also submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly Secretariat on Thursday. The adjournment motion strongly condemned the incident of Kasur and said that the culprits should be arrested immediately and given exemplary punishment.

It was also demanded in the motion to immediately remove the thousands of police officials appointed of protocol and personal security of VIPs and appoint them for the protection of the people. The motion also said that action should be taken against those police officials who fired at the protesters in Kasur.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah should immediately step down in wake of Kasur incident. While talking to media persons, the opposition leader said that a superintendent of police (SP) was suspended on the death of a peacock at Raiwind and now the chief minister should resign on cruel murder of a minor girl.

He said that this is not the first tragedy in Kasur but such incidents have been continuing there and continuous incidence of these events is the failure of the government of Punjab. He said that Punjab government has failed to prevent such incidents.

The opposition leader said that it would be a big failure of the government if the culprits are not arrested. He said that the firing at protesters is an extremely sad and commendable incident. He said that the incident of Model Town has been repeated by firing at protesters in Kasur.

He said that Punjab government has not learnt any lesson from the Model Town tragedy, and the incidents of murder and rivalry are being repeated. He said that the government's task is not to shoot at people but to protect them. "Shooting at innocent people to hide failure is a proof of the government's failure," Khursheed Shah said.

The opposition leader said that the Nawaz Sharif's talk is based on his thinking and his purpose is to damage the credibility of institutions. He said that the aggressive attitude of Nawaz Sharif will weaken the state.
