Ruling PPP's Khairunnissa Mughal, PTI's Khurrum Sher Zaman, and others tabled resolutions and spoke on the Kasur tragedy. Ruling and opposition parties' members offered condolences and expressed sympathy with bereaved and aggrieved family.
"It is extremely painful. Perpetrators of such crimes do not deserve any sympathy," said Sindh Senior Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Nisar Khuhro. The resolution of ruling party, on behalf of Sindh Assembly, recommended Sindh Government to approach Punjab Government for prosecution of the culprits and for taking every possible step for a speedy trial so that no such incident could take place in future.
One of the resolutions from the opposition parties also sought to strongly condemn the macabre incident. MQM's Heer Ismail Soho advised all to keep an eye on their children and provide them with training of self-defence but she failed to focus on the state's role regarding protection of vulnerable people especially kids.
The MQM's members said the heinous crimes committed against Zainab is a lesson for entire society that all must need to do better to protect the children of this country from such predators. Their resolution demanded that all law enforcement agencies make serious effort to apprehend the perpetrators and bring him to justice.
However, MQM's Syed Sardar Ahmed told the house that Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hasan, opposition leader in assembly, who is a member of his party, is visiting Kasur to offer condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of Sindh's people and elected representatives.
PPP's Shamim Mumtaz and PML-F's Nusrat Sehar Abbasi also condemned the gory incident. Shamim lamented that heinous crimes against women in Punjab province were on rise. She cited that legislation was approved by Sindh Assembly for protection of women and children. However, she forgot to tell the house if the PPP's Sindh government was implementing those laws in letter and spirit. To her, it was responsibility of religious scholars to create awareness among the public against this ferocity.
PML-N's Surath Thebo said that the Zainab tragedy pained every mother in the country. Since her party rules Punjab hence she defended Punjab government by pointing accusing figures upon other provinces for crimes against women and children. In Sindh, she emphasized, Tania Khaskheli and Fazila Sarki were the two women who suffered similarly. She said that these victims' parents are still protesting for justice. She also mentioned Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was also not an exception.
Sindh Information Minister, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, also took part in condemnation of the rape and killing and criticized the Punjab police for its extremely wrong' attitude. However, he too failed to take notice of Sindh police attitude towards protesters, especially the growers and teachers. Sindh Assembly also adopted the Sindh Public Procurement (Amendment) Bill 2017. The house was adjourned till Friday.
