Supreme Court Wednesday sought report from Punjab police chief by today (Thursday) over heinous act of rape and murder of a minor girl in district Kasur. An eight-year girl Zainab was raped and brutally murdered in Kasur district five days ago while was going to learn holy Quran whereas her dead body was found lying in garbage dump.

Her parents have been reportedly said that local police didn't cooperate in finding their missing child. A promotee police officer SP (Investigation) Qadoos Baig was looking after the district matter due to non-appointment against seat of District Police Officer Kasur and he was made an OSD after the incident surfaced.

Taking suo motu notice on Wednesday, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar has sought a report from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab within 24 hours.
