Addressing a joint meeting of FCCI, Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FWCCI) and Office of Research Innovator and Commercialization (ORIC), vice chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar said that it is very encouraging that the local industrialists are manufacturing quality products of international standard which are unique because of their quality and price edge.
He said that SMEs sector of Faisalabad is also very vibrant and their products should also be introduced in international markets by regularly organizing exhibitions in Faisalabad and in this connection the exhibition center of UAE is ready to help out the existing and prospective exporters.
Responding to a question to setup a desk of UAE in FCCI premises, VC Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar said that instead of this desk, we could create a joint committee comprising of representatives from both institutions. "This committee may repeatedly and regularly hold quarterly meetings to discuss the issues of mutual interest", he said and added that it will not only help them to get maximum price of their products but also contribute their role for the progress of Pakistan and this city.
VC said that UAF has innovative edge of making laudable inventions in addition to developing new and market driven technologies which could be utilized to further improve the quality of products and trimming cost of production. "ORIC is working for the commercialization of these inventions and technologies", he said and added that HEC has also created a Technology Development Fund to resolve the problems of SMEs sector with equity of 80:20. "The HEC could doll out 12 million for each viable project", he said and told that UAF has already completed 12 projects under this fund, however it is just peanut for an industrial hub like Faisalabad.
