Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Monday announced that a process of transplantation of kidney and liver shall start at Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) on March 23. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting at the PKLI under the chair of the Chief Minister. The meeting was held to review the construction work and installation of medical equipments during the second phase. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Punjab Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D, Chairman BoD of PKLI and others attended the meeting.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister directed to expedite the work on second phase to make operational by March 23. He also said that work should be continued on this project with dedication and vigour and no stone should be left unturned to complete the project well in time. He further directed that patients should not face any difficulty with regard to their treatment during the first phase of the hospital which has already been completed.

Earlier, he visited the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute to inspect the facilities provided by the hospital. He went to different sections of the OPD, inquired after the health of the patients and talked to doctors and other staff. He also inspected pharmacy and checked the process of provision of medicines to the patients. Talking on the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction and said that this hospital has become a role model institution; he is satisfied to observe the provision of best healthcare facilities along with excellent arrangements for the patients.

"This hospital would prove as a game-changer initiative in the health sector. The poor patients suffering from liver and kidney diseases are being treated free of cost and I shall continue to regularly visit this hospital to remain fully abreast of the medical facilities being provided here," he added. Later, while talking to the media, the Chief Minister said that Imran Khan and his PTI have done nothing during the last four years except sit-in, mendacity and levelling baseless allegations. "Now they are worried about facing the people as the elections are drawing nearer," he added.

He further said, "We are inaugurating public welfare projects, including hospitals, schools, filter clinics, colleges, infrastructure and transport development schemes every day. Meanwhile, the PTI and Khan have only wasted time of the people. That is why they are worried to face the people." According to him, first Niazi accused him of taking Rs 23 billion as bribe from Javed Sadiq and in response he sent a notice to him (Khan), which he has not replied back till today. Then Khan accused him of taking Rs 10 billion rupees in Panama Case. Again, he filed a suit against him (Khan) and the PTI chief is avoiding the court.

He said that Niazi who is the master of U-turns, falsehood and speaking lies tried to obstruct the journey of development through sit-ins and lockdowns. "In a TV programme, Khan claimed that he will eliminate load-shedding in KP in five years but he is unable to produce even single kilowatt electricity till date," he added. "In contrast, the Punjab government has completed electricity generation projects of thousands of megawatts capacity from its own resources and we are happy that the electricity produced by these projects is being provided to the whole of Pakistan," he added.

To a question on the Balochistan government, the Chief Minister said that they support the democratic process and added that all the political parties should do the same so that public welfare projects could be speedily completed and corruption could be eliminated. "It is the beauty of the democracy that elected representatives decide themselves and we are hopeful that PML-N government shall continue in Balochistan," he added.
