The National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Friday approved two bills. Discussion on another two bills was deferred due to the movers' absence. The two bills, "The Health Services Academy (Restructuring) Bill, 2017" and "The Islamabad Healthcare Regulation Bill, 2017" were discussed in detail and were unanimously recommended for passed by Parliament.

The committee members took up another bill, "Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill, 2016" for discussion in the meeting. After getting viewpoints from officials of the ministry, the members decided to reject it. This bill was moved by MNA Parveen Masood Bhatti.

The committee members also considered the "Prohibition of Smoking and Protection of Non-Smokers Health (Amendment) Bill, 2017" and "HIV/AIDS (Safety and Control) Bill, 2013," but the discussion on these bills was deferred due to absence of the movers.

MNAs Dr Nikhat Shakeel Khan and Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho had moved the prohibition of smoking and HIV/AIDS bills, respectively. The committee members also deferred briefing on the comprehensive report/implementation status of the previous recommendations of the committee meeting held on October 26, 2017.
