"Even today, Pakistan is ready to play its part. Intelligence sharing needs to be enhanced," he said, adding that US government was moving in wrong direction. He said Haqqani Network is not the only problem. The ambassador said that Pakistan has raised questions about the role of India in Afghanistan because India should not have any political role there.
"US misunderstood that the pressure on Pakistan will benefit them. We think pressure would badly affect Pak-US relations," he said, making it clear that suspension of aid to Pakistan was not in the interest of US itself. He said that it was in the interest of the two countries to remain united against terrorists. He said that Pakistan has spent money in the war on terrorism and the US has to reimburse that money because US made commitments under partnership with Pakistan in the war on terrorism.
He said Pakistan army and civilians made unprecedented sacrifices in the war on terror. He reminded the US that despite huge spending in Afghanistan, 47% of Afghanistan is still beyond control of the US-allied forces while drug production in Afghanistan has also increased considerably.
