Three general managers of the EDB recently met Joint Secretary Large Enterprises Development (LED) Ghulam Dastgir Khan Baloch and informed him about their concerns as well as other EDB officers and staff.
"We are aware of current politics in the EDB and concerns of officers. The entire situation is in the knowledge of incumbent additional secretary in-charge," said an official who deals with the affairs of the EDB.
The sources said on the appearance of a story in Business Recorder regarding the agenda of the 36th Board meeting of EDB, a few members approached the minister and secretary industries complaining the mala fide intention of CEO EDB in hiding the facts from them and calling a Board meeting in haste to discuss such an important issue of EDB restructuring.
Some of the members, sources said, are of the opinion that the issue of restructuring of EDB had been discussed in the 35th meeting of the Board and on the basis of which the Ministry of Industries & Production has already forwarded a summary to the office of Prime Minister which is yet to be approved or rejected.
"Many agenda items of serious nature were discussed in the 34th meeting of the Board and the outcome of those agenda items was supposed to be placed before the board in the forthcoming meetings. But surprisingly the Board was kept in the darkness about progress made in the 35th and 36th Board meetings," the sources said.
The members are also concerned over not fixing of any inquiry committee by the ministry against Mirza Nasir Baig and other officers of tariff section for the corruption charges reported to the Prime Minister's Office due to which the disbandment orders of EDB were issued.
Insiders claim that the incumbent CEO is misusing the authority and benefits of CEO-EDB. Besides using his entitled official car, he is also using two other cars for which he is not entitled to.
Another officer who purportedly runs a personal auto sector business recently used his contacts to appoint chairman State Engineering Corporation as CEO EDB when the acting CEO was on leave due to heart issues. However, this attempt remained unsuccessful due to the minister's cold shoulder.
