Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has constituted a committee expand Zamung Kor to all districts of the KP province to make street children useful citizens of the country. Zamung Kor is the name of institute for state children (street children).

Presiding over a meeting on the Zamung Kor project at the Chief Minister House, he formed the committee comprising of Secretaries Social Welfare, Physical Planning and Finance to frame administrative, technical and financial rules and submit him recommendations within ten days. The relevant officials attended the meeting and briefed Khattak on the progress on Zamung Kor.

KP CM directed the relevant officials to improve the performance of Zamung Kor by efficient management to make such children useful citizens of the society

He said that the centres were expanded to nine districts along with two tribal agencies including Khyber and Kurram agencies. However, he also expressed concern that excluding Peshawar and Charsadda, many centres were not fully functional. He was of the view that all centres should have been functional at divisional level as resources for the purpose had been allocated in order to make state children useful citizens of the society.

He opposed any intra-institutional tussle on the issue. He directed the officials to work honestly and make concerted efforts for the state children. He told them to ensure quality food for the children and prepare daily reports giving no space for any pilferage.

He advised them to replicate the Shaukat Khanum Trust Model and evolve a transparent mechanism with focus on the growing up and looking after of state children. He said KP government had already issued Rs 400 million for bringing up of state children.
