In this connection, a ceremony was organized by ORIC UET Peshawar. Vice chancellor UET Peshawar, Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain and Zahid Maqsood Sheikh CEO signed the agreement. Zahid Maqsood Sheikh CEO PASDEC said this partnership will result in innovative solutions for better utilization of marble resource in the country. Registrar Dr Khizar Azam, Dr Abdul Shakoor, Director ORIC, Dr Khan Shahzada and others were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, a one-day seminar on "energy savings in local industries" was also held in collaboration with PASTIC. The seminar was organized by Department of Chemical Engineering UET Peshawar. The seminar also conducted the poster exhibition where the students of chemical engineering presented their ideas on energy conservation.
The Chairman Chemical Engineering Department, Dr Muhammad Younas said the seminar would provide an opportunity for local industry to learn about cost effective means of energy saving by which they can lower their energy consumption and costs. The event also featured talks by the renowned speakers including Ishfaq A Paracha, President KPZDMC, Board of Management Nowshera Industrial Zone, CEO PASTIC and Dr M A Irfan, Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering on energy conservation and energy audit.
The event also marked the inauguration of Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Student Chapter at UET Peshawar, a non-profit professional society aimed to promote scientific and educational interests of scholars engaged in energy industry and to foster action for sustainable development. Later, Dean Faculty of Engineering UET Peshawar Engr Professor Dr Noor Muhammad distributed the certificates to the best student projects.
