The federal capital witnessed an increase in incidents of house robberies and street crimes during the last week, as over 16 cases of thefts, burglary and snatching at gunpoint were reported to various police stations of the city. According to data gathered by Business Recorder here on Saturday, police stations of the city registered five cases of motor vehicle theft, two cases of kidnapping and three cases of murder.

The most favourite areas for criminal gangs were within the limits of Industrial Area, Koral, Golra and Karachi Company police stations. As many as two cases of snatching at gunpoint and one each case of robbery and auto theft were reported to Industrial Area police station during the aforementioned period.

One Maqsood Alam informed Industrial Area police station that two unknown armed robbers snatched mobile phone from him when he was on his way home. In another incident, Mughis Ali lodged a complaint with Industrial Area police station that unidentified pickpockets deprived him of cash and ATM card.

One Muhammad Arshad filed a complaint with the same police station that two unknown armed persons intercepted him at Sector H-8 and snatched cash and phone card from him at gunpoint. Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number LXV-254 of a citizen, Haq Nawaz, that was parked in front of his house located at Sector I-9/1.

During the period under review, Koral police station registered two cases of dacoity and one case of murder. One Ali Asghar lodged a complaint with Koral police station that five armed robbers stormed into a bank at Tramari, shortly after a van delivered Rs 4.5 million to the bank, and snatched the money. The robbers overpowered the guards and made staff and customers hostage at gunpoint.

They remained there for over an hour and also emptied lockers. Before leaving the bank, they broke the CCTV cameras and the machines which store the CCTV footages. Another Muhammad Nauman informed Koral police station that two unidentified armed persons stormed into his shop at Jhangi Syedan and snatched mobile phone and cash from him.

Similarly, Golra police station registered overall four cases; one of kidnapping, one of road accident, one of murder and one of auto theft. One Iqbal Gul informed Golra police station that accused Muhammad Arshad and Muhammad Rashid along with others kidnapped his wife. In another incident, a speeding bus crushed an unknown motorcyclist to death.

Motor vehicle thieves stole a bike of Nauman Khan from the limits of Golra police station. The police recovered a dead body of unknown girl, 25, from the limits of Koral police station who had been shot dead. Karachi company police station registered one case each of auto theft and murder. The thieves stole a bike bearing registration number LRW-0998 of Tahir Ali from TS Complex.

One Ali Raza lodged a complaint with Karachi Company police station that unknown persons killed his brother Muhammad Hussain. He was a goldsmith by profession. According to the police, a piece of rope was found around his neck, which was then tied to the seat of the vehicle on which he was sitting and it seems he was strangulated.
