Model Collectorate of Customs (MCC), Preventive on Saturday claimed to have recovered 377 grams of gold worth Rs 1.9 million and 10 expensive cell phones from a female passenger at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP). According to details, the staff had received a tip-off that some unscrupulous elements were planning to smuggle gold and cell phones through a female passenger from UAE.

Reacting on this information, the strict vigilance was mounted at arrival hall of JIAP. Resultantly, a female passenger Uzma Mehwish, who came to Karachi via flight FZ-329 from Dubai, was spotted by the preventive staff at arrival hall. On her refusal to have any contraband item in her possession, the preventive staff took her for scanning that led the recovery of 10 cell phones and 377 gram gold, which was concealed under her cloths. Consequent upon recovery, she was taken into custody and further investigation is in progress.
