Acting Inspector of Police Punjab Amjad Javed Saleemi said on Thursday that Punjab police are utilising information technology efficiently in order to improve law and order situation in the province. After the completion of PPIC3 project, he said, smart policing of street crimes, investigation, traffic management and other big challenges will be resolved with the increasing role of information technology. He said the process of modernizing police work is going on for complete transfer of system to the IT system.

"After the establishment of front desks, public service centers are being completed in all districts of the province so that public may get character certificate, FIR copies, driving licenses and registration of property renting under one roof," the acting IG Police said. He expressed these views while addressing the 14-member delegation of 45th Common Training Programme of Civil Services Academy at the central police office (CPO) on Thursday.

Through Public Service Commission, the highly-educated youngsters are becoming the part of Punjab police which would help them in ending decades-old Thana culture, he said, adding that they are also imparting modern technology courses to its existing force to enhance their capabilities.

The acting police chief informed the delegation that they are completing the PPIC3 project with the cooperation of Punjab government. He said the PPIC3 is a part of Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) which will be replicated in other five big districts of the province.
