Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar has warned the KMC's Works Department officials of stern actions if they fail to shoulder their responsibilities regarding speedy completion of ongoing 122 development schemes. Speaking at a meeting with the said officials on Thursday, he expressed displeasure over slow work on various projects initiated by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

He urged them to fulfill their responsibilities with professional dedication and sincerity. He said around 122 development schemes had been started at an estimated cost of Rs 318 million but, he lamented that the concerned officials of the KMC's Woks Department were delaying the completion of these projects.

"Chief engineers will be held responsible for the schemes in their respective districts. Action will be taken if they fail to complete these schemes on time," he alerted. Chairman Works Committee Hassan Naqvi, chairman Works (Electrical and Mechanical) Khalid Ajmeri, adviser to the Mayor Farhat Khan, director general works Shahab Anwar, senior director coordination Masood Alam, director technical S M Shakeeb, director finance Mahmood Baig and chief engineers from all districts attended the meeting. The Mayor also directed the official to begin work on Mirza Adam Khan Road and Boat Basin Road as per provincial annual development programme.
