The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has allowed repayment of sales tax paid on steel products from October 23, 2008 till June 1, 2012. The FBR has issued SRO 1244(1)/2017 here on Wednesday to amend SRO 308(1)/2008, dated 24th March, 2008, allowing repayment of sales tax paid on steel products.

According to the details, SRO 333(I)/2012, dated 31.03.2012, is an amendment in SRO 308(I)/2008, dated 24.03.2008, to increase the rate of repayment of sales tax paid on steel products under chapter XI of Sales Tax Special Procedure Rules, 2007 to registered persons on export from Pakistan of mild steel re-rolled products manufactured from ingots and billets other than imported or Pakistan Steel Mills or of People Steel Mills from Rs5,960 PMT to Rs6,306 PMT with effect from March 31, 2012.

Now through SRO 1244(1)/2017, the amendments made under SRO 333(1)/2012, dated the 31st March, 2012 shall be deemed to have been so substituted with effect from the 23rd October, 2008 till the 1st June, 2012 instead of the 31st March, 2012.

Following is the text of the SRO1244(1)/201 7 issued here on Wednesday: In exercise of the powers conferred by section 61 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, the Federal Board of Revenue is pleased to direct that the following further amendment shall be made in its notification # SRO 308(1)/2008, dated the 24th March, 2008, namely:

In the aforesaid notification, in the table, in column (4), the figure "6306" as substituted vide notification # SRO 333(1)/2012, dated 31st March, 2012, shall be deemed to have been so substituted with effect from the 23rd October, 2008 till the 1st June, 2012 instead of the 31st March 2012.
