Three citizens of Karachi, inflicted with dengue fever, lost their lives with hemorrhagic related complications of the ailment at local hospitals, late Sunday evening. Dr Abdul Rashid, Program Manager, Prevention and Control Program for Dengue told APP Monday that the number of dengue induced mortality rate has thus grown to 11 for the prevalent year.

He confirmed that an unusual surge was also being registered in the incidence rate of the ailment this November with 490 cases reported to the Dengue Prevention and Control Cell till 20th day of the current month, with 489 from Karachi only. The total number of registered dengue fever cases for 2016, he said was 2418 as compared to 2436 in the current year. As for Chikungunya, Dr Abdul Rashid said 103 cases were reported during current November from Karachi only and none from other parts of the province. For the entire prevalent year, he said 4011 cases were recorded in Karachi and 730 in other districts.
