Abdul Bari further pointed out that steps are being taken to strengthen the FCS. The new recruitment would be initiated on the basis of merit and the ghost employees would be shunted out. He said that the FCS plans to hold a 'Fish Bazar' at the Fisheries every Sunday to provide fresh and quality fish to the metropolis.
The European Union had imposed a ban in 2007 and to get it lifted with the personal interest of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah. Four auction halls at Harbour were modernized in accordance with the guidelines of the European Union, he added.
Abdul Bari further pointed out that a sum of Rs 10,000 per month is being given the family members of the fishermen detained in India. He said that Pakistan has recently released 68 detained Indian fishermen as a gesture of goodwill but regretted that India has released only nine Pakistani fishermen.
