The Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue (IR) has conducted raid on National Testing Service (NTS) on charges of massive evasion of income as well as sales tax.

According to sources, the offices of the country's renowned private sector testing service ie NTS situated in sector H-8 and I-8 of the federal capital have been raided by the Intelligence & Investigation-IR wing of FBR for allegedly committing sales tax and income tax evasion. The raid was conducted under the direct supervision of Directorate General Intelligence & Investigation-IR Islamabad Shad Muhammad Khan and Director I&I-IR Islamabad Dr Ijlal Khattak who were assisted by the Additional Director I&I-IR Arshad Nawaz Chheena.

The raiding team was headed by Deputy Director Inayat Malik Swati along with other officers including Junaid Murtaza and Ghulam Mustafa Dogar, deputy directors. The source informed that accounting record consisting of file folders, computers and laptops was recovered during the raid which is currently being scrutinized by the investigators of the premier anti-tax evasion agency. According to him, some important proofs of tax fraud as well as enormous tax evasion of income and sales tax (tax on services) by the NTS administration have been witnessed by the agency during the raid, which have been impounded and further investigation has been started. On the basis of available information and record, it has principally been decided by the agency to initiate criminal proceedings against the culprits involved in such tax fraud.
