Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has recommended the government to increase price of motor spirit (petrol) by Rs 2.49 per liter and high speed diesel (HSD) by Rs 5.19 per liter for November 2017. In monthly review for November, the Ogra also proposed an increase of Rs 15.99 per liter in price of kerosene oil and Rs 12.63 per liter increase in light diesel oil (LDO) price.

According to a working paper moved to Energy Ministry (Petroleum Division) and Ministry of Finance, the Ogra has proposed to increase per liter prices of petrol and high speed diesel by 3.4 percent and 6.5 percent respectively. Similarly, the Ogra also recommended an increase of 33.3 percent per liter in the price of kerosene oil and 27.5 percent per liter increase in the price of LDO. The government will announce its decision regarding the Ogra's recommendation on Wednesday.

In case the government approves the Ogra's determination about the increase in prices of petroleum products, petrol price will go up to Rs 75.99 per liter from the current Rs 73.50 and HSD to Rs 84.59 from current Rs 79.40 per liter. The prices of kerosene oil after an increase of Rs 15.99 will go up to Rs 63.99 per liter from the existing Rs 48 per liter and the price of LDO will go up with an increase of Rs 12.63 per liter to Rs 58.63 from existing Rs 46.00 per liter.

The Ogra has also proposed GST on high speed diesel by 31 percent and other petroleum products (petrol, kerosene oil and LDO) 17 percent for the month of November.
