Sources said that NAB Lahore had prepared and forwarded a reference against the Sharif family members including former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his three children - Maryam Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz - and his son-in-law Captain Muhammad Safdar (retd) in a case relating to the Avenfield Properties (Flat No.16 and 16-A, 17 and 17-A Avenfield House, Park Lane, London, the UK) and another reference against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for possessing assets beyond known sources of income.
They said that following completion of investigation in connection with two references, Director General (DG) NAB Lahore Saleem Shehzad, had forwarded it to NAB headquarters and requested to freeze assets and put the name of the Sharif family and Dar on ECL in cases related to the cases.
However, the NAB Chairman rejected the recommendations, sources said, adding that following approval of both the reference it will be filed in an accountability court and then the court will decide about freezing assets and putting the names of the accused on ECL.
They said that NAB will file three references against the Sharif family and one against former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in compliance with the Supreme Court judgement in the Panama Papers case on September 11.
Sources said that three references which NAB will file against the Sharif family included: a) reference relating to the Avenfield Properties (Flat No.16 and 16-A, 17 and 17-A Avenfield House, Park Lane, London, the United Kingdom); b) reference relating to establishment of Azizia Steel Mill and Hill Metals Company; c) and a reference related to the establishment of companies including Flagship Investment Ltd, Hartstone Properties Ltd, Que Holdings Ltd, Quint Eaton Place 2 Ltd, Quint Saloane Ltd, Quaint Ltd, Flagship Securities Ltd, Quint Gloucester Place Ltd, Quint Paddington Ltd, Flagship Developments Ltd, Alanna Services Ltd, Lankin SA (BVI), Chadron Inc, Ansbacher Inc, Coomber Inc and Capital FZE (Dubai).
NAB will file its fourth reference against Dar for possessing assets beyond known sources of income. The assets of Dar increased from Rs 9.11 million to Rs 831.70 million within a short period of time.
