An Indian soldier committed suicide at Uniform Force Headquarters in Reasi area of Jammu. The 32-year-old soldier used his service weapon and fatally shot himself, the Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported on Monday. An FIR has been lodged in the Reasi Police Station and an investigation has been launched into the matter. This incident of suicide raised the number of such deaths among Indian troops and police personnel to 382 since January 2007.

Earlier on May 12, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan Anil Kumar of 35 Battalion had committed suicide inside a paramilitary force training center in Humhama area of Budgam district. He was found dead by his colleagues inside his room at the Regional Training Centre of the CRPF.
