He also appealed to the media and the people to the help combat this issue by reporting any ailing peafowl to the wildlife reporting centre or to the deputy Commissioner Tharparkar's Control Room, wherefrom it will be taken by the wildlife staff and put in the quarantine till recovery. He said that the villager who brings the ailing peafowl to the reporting centre will be paid travelling expenses.
He said that due to scorching summer season, the peafowl mortality rate goes up due to the heat and low resistance. The peafowl mortality is not only due to the Rainkhet disease but also because of heat and poultry virus. He appealed the local people to separate diseased poultry from the peafowl immediately because peafowl are very sensitive to poultry virus and they get affected immediately. The Livestock department has also been requested to visit the area and vaccine the poultry and other livestock in the area.
"Sindh government's Wildlife department has taken measures for combating said mortality and constituted three teams comprising of wildlife officials and veterinarian from poultry Unit of Livestock Department," he said.
