Addressing a ceremony of medals and scholarship cheque distribution among distinction holder students of different public sector schools and colleges under Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mardan, he said that the system of Secondary Boards is under review to review and amend their outdated system of 1960 and bring it at par with the requirements of the modern era.
On this occasion, the provincial minister, Chairman BISE, Mardan Professor Shaukat Hayat, Principal Colonel Sher Khan Cadet College, Colonel Tahir Najeeb Raja (Retd), District Education Officer (DEO), Ziauddin and Controller, Mohammad Ali distributed cheques of Rs 1,60,000 each in 41 boys and girls students of different schools and colleges.
The provincial minister was briefed in detail about the reforms introduced in the board so far and future projects. The provincial minister also inaugurated Students' Information Centre at BISE Mardan.
Mohammad Atif Khan termed the revival of the confidence of people in public sector schools a positive achievement and said that from next financial year, cash prize for the first position in public sector schools will be increased to Rs 1 million, Rs 0.5 million for second position and Rs 0.3 million for third position respectively to encourage the intelligent boys and girls.
He said that Private Schools Regulatory Authority is being established for bringing improvement in the affairs of private schools and bringing under the rules and regulations. He said that beside, four representatives of the owners of private schools, representatives of other sectors will be nominated as members of the authority. The purpose of the authority is to redress the grievances of the parents against private schools.
