The Karachi Port handled 154,113 tonnes of cargo comprising 128,789 tonnes of import cargo and 25,324 tonnes of export cargo including 6,086 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 128,789 tonnes comprised of 40,240 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,777 tonnes of general cargo; 32,000 tonnes of coal and 39,772 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 25,324 tonnes comprised of 25,124 tonnes of containerised cargo and 200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,086 containers comprising of 3,196 containers import and 2,890 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The breakup of imported containers shows 968 of 20's and 999 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 115 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 808 of 20's and 189 of 40's loaded containers while 558 of 20's and 573 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Kota Kasturi, Northern Dependant, Bochem Ghent, Global Genesis and Wang Da carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Ever Divine, Sea Charming, Aragonit and Yangize Happiness carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer and coal respectively currently at the berths.

There were two ships namely Ever Divine and KSL Chao Yang carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday. There were six vessels Vania, Clemens Schulte, SM Mumbai, BBC Europe, Bright World and Liberty Pride carrying containers, chemical and vehicle respectively due to arrive on Thursday while six vessels viz. Najran, Seaspan Grouse, Nordic Tianjin, Lark, Ise and Tian Fu carrying containers, coal, steel and railway engine respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 124,084 tonnes comprising 72,936 tonnes of import cargo and 51,148 tonnes of export cargo including 4,641 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 72,936 tonnes includes 15,547 tonnes of diesel oil; 9,800 tonnes of palm oil; 2,181 tonnes of general cargo; 7,575 tonnes of soyabean; 802 tonnes of LPG and 37,031 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 51,148 tonnes includes 51,148 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,641 containers comprising of 1,949 containers import and 2,692 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There was one ship namely CV Maersk Hartford carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely CV MSC Al-Ghero, MV Chong Mong and MT Formosa Falcon carrying containers, general cargo and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Savannah, CV Maersk Hartford, CV MSC Al-Ghero, MV Chong Mong, MV Tian Fu, MV Dione, MT Tomson Gas, MT Formosa Falcon and MT Chemroad Mega currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve ships namely MV RB Eden, MV MR Arcturus, MV Rui Ning-2, MT Globe Tanya, MT Methane Heater, MT Silver Philipa, MT Bneinder, MT Zem Gale, MT Spruce-2, MT Ginga Lion, MT Bunga Allium and MT Chemroad Journey carrying soyabean, cCondensate oil, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. CV Suez Canal, MV Orion Ocean, MT Methane Heater, MT Silver Philipa and MT Chemroad Journey carrying containers, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, SSGC LPG Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were three ships namely CV Suez Canal, CV Hermes and CV Fortune carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV CNNI Arauco and CV Hugo Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
