Renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel was removed from an Emirates Airline flight at Dubai airport while heading to Canada on Wednesday after he was denied clearance. Maulana Tariq Jameel was on way to Toronto along with former cricketer Shahid Afridi to collect funds for the cricketer's charitable organisation. After the incident, Shahid Afridi left for Canada all by himself.

It should be mentioned here that Maulana Tariq Jameel and Shahid Afridi were on board the flight to Toronto to participate in a ceremony of Shahid Afridi Foundation, when airport officials showed up at the flight and told the cleric that he was denied security clearance by Canadian immigration. Shahid Afridi said Maulana Tariq Jameel had Canadian visa as well.
