Terming Pakistan Bar Council's Friday convention `illegal', the Supreme Court and Lahore High Court Bar Associations have joined hands to demand prime minister's resignation, besides convening an all Pakistan lawyers' convention on May 20. Speaking at a press conference in Lahore on Saturday, Lahore High Court Bar Association's president Chaudhry Zulfiquar said: "They (SCBA and LHCBA) have not demanded removal of the government, but only urged the premier to resign for the sake of fair investigation."
He also vowed that the LHCBA would play the role of true representatives of the lawyers' community. SCBA's general secretary Aftab Bajwa said that they also supported the demand of the LHCBA and in this connection would chalk out a joint strategy in its May 20 lawyers' convention. The office-bearers of the LHCBA also claimed that the PBC's Friday convention was sponsored by government.
