Pakistan having its identity as Islamic Republic has ensured the fundamental rights of its citizens (including workers) in its constitution. The vision of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan and the founding Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party was to uplift the working and living conditions of the Labour Workforce, who are contributing their due share in the progress of the Country.
The same spirit was carried out by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto as well as present Chairman PPP, Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman and former President of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari. Present Provincial Government of Sindh led by Pakistan Peoples Party is striving hard to maintain industrial peace and provide better investment opportunities which will ultimately result in creation of new employment for youth of the province. Similarly, the Government also believes in decent work environment and is fully committed to protect the rights of workers and to provide them all with required facilities and employment opportunities.
As we commemorate and salute the efforts of those who worked so hard to uplift and upgrade the society, the scenario now prevailing in the shape of CPEC and GSP+ offers a national challenge for the tripartite constituents of the Labour Movement to put their heads together and to build a modern agenda for the future of the industry and its workers.
On the occasion of Labour Day, I appreciate the struggle and hard work done by the worker community in the economic progress of the country and pledge to support their efforts for a prosperous society. I also congratulate officers of Labour Department for their efforts to better the existing conditions of Labour class.
