The Karachi Port handled 296,667 tonnes of cargo comprising 243,539 tonnes of import cargo and 53,128 tonnes of export cargo including 6,813 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 243,539 tonnes comprised of 88,213 tonnes of containerised cargo; 72,226 tonnes of bulk cargo: 64,994 tonnes of coal; 1,720 tonnes of seeds; 5,512 tonnes of rock phosphate and 83,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 53,128 tonnes comprised of 44,328 tonnes of containerised cargo and 8,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,813 containers comprising of 2,086 containers import and 4,727 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,000 of 20's and 530 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 13 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 797 of 20's and 270 of 40's loaded containers while 846 of 20's and 1,272 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eleven ships namely Hamburg Bay, MSC Chiara, Cosco Fukuyama, Prosper, Torm Ismini, Torm Trinity, BW Boron, Lada, Courageous, Ras Ghumays-1 and Sea Moon carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, rock phosphate and general cago respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were ten vessels viz. CMA CGM Pujet, Piraeus, NYK Furano, Xin Nan Tong, Seaspan Lahore, Lady Amna, CSC Coral, MT Lahore, Maribel and Chemroute Brilliant carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

There was one ship namely MT Lahore carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Piraeus and CSC Coral carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday. There were four vessels Kota Kaya, Bow Mekka, Clipper Innovation and Ts Delta carrying containers, chemical, DAP and steel respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while six vessels viz. Maliakos, Polo, MT Shalamar, Navig-8 Gallantry, BBC Challenger and Izumo carrying containers, oil tankers, pipes and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 146,974 tonnes comprising 124,630 tonnes of import cargo and 22,344 tonnes of export cargo including 2,919 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 124,630 tonnes includes 18,473 tonnes of diesel oil; 32,000 tonnes of LNG; 1,154 tonnes of slag; 3,397 tonnes of soyabean; 26,925 tonnes of coal; 3,801 tonnes of cranes; 5,763 tonnes of chemical and 33,117 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 22,344 tonnes includes 22,344 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,919 containers comprising of 1,743 containers import and 1,176 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were two ships namely CV MSC Veronique and MV Sea Fortune carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Al-Manama and MV African Fin Foot carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten vessels viz. CV MSC Veronique, CV Al-Manama, MV Fan Zhou-9, MV Clipper Tenacoius, MV African Fin Foot, MV Chang Shan Hai, MV Iris-II, MT Al Ghariya, MV Sea Fortune and MT Al-Soor-II currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cranes, slag, coal, soyabean, LNG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as seventeen ships namely CV Maersk Pittsburg, MV Dione, MV RB Edon, MV YM Miranda, MV Rui Ning-2, MV Freedom Line, MV Asia Emerald-II, MV Iris Oldendorff, MT Khor Gas, MT Globe Tanya, MT Maistros, MT Formosa, MT Silver Philipa, MT Bneinder, MT Zem Gale, MT Spruce-2 and MT Straum carrying containers, soyabean, chemical, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were five vessels viz. CV Maersk Pittsburg, CV APL Miami, MV Iris Oldendorff, MT Khor Gas and MT Straum carrying containers, coal, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were six ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV CMA CGM Vergina, CV Tucapel, CV Maersk Izmir, CV TG Poseidon and MT Lion-M carrying containers and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday. There is one ship namely CV CMA CGM Indus carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
