The resolution mover Thebo called Imran Khan a 'so-called' leader, blaming him for irresponsible and non-political attitude. She said that Imran is misleading the nation. She said that the PTI Chairman is now being called 'U-turn.' The resolution virtually drew the opposition into two blocs as the PTI and MQM legislators also exchanged harsh words.
In response to Thebo's accusations, PTI's legislator, Khurrum Sher Zaman Khan said that Imran Khan would continue raising the issues of corruption, money laundering and anti-army elements. He said that no matter if somebody calls it irresponsible attitude, Imran would continue speaking against it on daily basis. He said that the Supreme Court's judges have also ruled in the Panama Papers Leaks case that Nawaz Sharif is not 'Sadiq and Amin.' He said that Nawaz Sharif should resign. MQM's Dr Zafar Kamali said that Imran Khan should not use foul language. He accused PTI chief of hurling threats to people during public gatherings. He also raised the issue of Khan's private life and his alleged daughter. He also accused Imran Khan of attacking the PTV station in Islamabad with mob and used indecent language against Pak Army generals.
During their speeches, PTI's Samar Ali Khan and Dr Seema Zia strongly protested against anti-Imran speeches. In reply, the MQM legislators protested against the PTI's lawmakers. The war of words between them left Assembly in a chaotic situation. However, MQM's Faisal Sabzwari attempted to calm down the house by saying that "talking about one's private life is not the MQM's policy" and withdrew the remarks used by his party's members against Imran Khan.
PTI's Samar Ali Khan opposed the resolution, saying that no one should discuss anyone's private life. "We have a lot to say. If someone attacks private life of others that will evoke retort about his own family also," he said while pointing at MQM's Zafar Kamali. His remarks triggered pandemonium in the house. Meantime, opposition leader Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan who also hails from MQM stepped in and asked the PTI to avoid harsh remarks as dispute could entangle both parties in troubles. He said that the problems, which Karachi was facing with, require opposition parties to remain united to sort out them.
The ruling Pakistan People's Party announced its neutrality on the resolution. "We shall neither support nor oppose the resolution," said Sindh Senior Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Nisar Khuhro. However, he expressed concern over Imran Khan's political attitude. Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza put the resolution to house where remaining majority voted in favour of it. The PML-F's legislators also abstained.
The house now stands adjourned till Friday morning.
