Central Vice Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Professor Ibrahim on Sunday termed the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) a draconian law and said that FCR is the name of lawlessness in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

Professor Ibrahim was addressing the two-day convocation of the JI in Sarai Gambela, Lakki Marwat. He said that calling the FCR a law is an insult to law. He added the people of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) have been deprived of basic and democratic rights for the last seven decades because of draconian Frontier Crime Regulation Act.

He said that the democratic governments in the country had promised to abolish the FCR law; however, none of them had taken practical steps to abolish the draconian law. He vowed that his party would continue struggle till complete abolishment of the black law in FATA, adding the party stood firm on its stance to give all legal and constitutional rights to people of tribal region.

The JI leader said that the majority of FATA residents demand merger of tribal areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that the JI supported this demand of tribal people.
