The fire that erupted at the 16th floor of Saima Towers situated at I.I. Chundrigar Road was extinguished after 8-hour-long rescue operation. According to fire brigade officials, fire occurrence was initially on the 16th floor of the building, which took up to the 15th floor. No loss of life has been reported in the fire which broke out early Saturday morning.

A man who was trapped inside the building was rescued by the fire department. The man did not sustain any serious injuries. "The building has no system of dousing the fire," the fire officials said. The fire brigade clarified that snorkel can reach to merely as high as 12th floor.
