According to a spokesman of the Association here on Friday, PCMA showed its intention for membership in ICCA's Brazil meeting in October 2016. The membership was given to PCMA at a recent meeting held in Germany, the spokesman added. Speaking on this occasion Abrar said, "PCMA has been inducted into the International Community of chemicals associations, federations, and councils on a unanimous vote and has achieved this milestone in a remarkably short time frame." He further said, "the membership would open Pakistan chemical industry for investments and JVs from multi-nationals all across the world."
The membership puts PCMA in a position to adopt the latest best practices, initiatives, and programs with the backing and support of relevant technical professionals from developed countries, Abrar Ahmed added. PCMA Secretary General Iqbal Kidwai elaborated on the benefits of this membership and said, "as an important stakeholder in Pakistan and backed up by ICCA, PCMA is now in a position to discuss and get involved with the government on regulatory regimes for effective chemical management and safety and security issues along the chemical value chain. He further said, "PCMA is in a leading position now to discuss chemical related issues with the United Nations (SAICM, UNEP etc) for implementing these programs in an organised manner acceptable to the chemical industry."
