Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Qamar Bajwa said here on Thursday that the army would continue to extend its full support to all the government institutions involved in the Karachi operations, particularly the Sindh police and civil administration. Speaking at a briefing held on the ongoing targeted operation at the Corps and Rangers headquarters, the CoAS lauded the efforts of Rangers and the law-enforcement agencies in restoring normalcy in Karachi by significantly reducing the acts of terrorism, targeted killings and incidents of kidnapping for ransom.

Reiterating that efforts to consolidate peace in the city would continue, General Bajwa appreciated the courage and resolve of soldiers and officers in ridding the city of terrorists and criminals. He also paid tribute to the people of Karachi for extending their support to the security forces in the operation.

During his visit to the city, General Bajwa laid floral wreaths at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered fateha for the martyrs. Later, during his interaction with the business community of the metropolis at the Corps Headquarters, the CoAS reassured that businesses and investment in Karachi will continue to benefit from improved law and order and should, in turn, ensure national and social obligations. Earlier on arrival at Karachi, the CoAS was received by Commander 5 Corps Lieutenant General Shahid Baig Mirza.
